What I Wore for Easter

Happy Monday and Happy Easter!

I hope you all had a fabulous Easter weekend with your loved ones. I had such a great weekend and I feel energized to start the new week. On Saturday we all woke up early, made a big breakfast and went on a long hike up and around Bell Rock. We then came home and planted flowers, had lunch outside and played bocce ball. It was so nice outside, I even got a little sunburned! I love spending the weekends outdoors, especially with the weather we’ve had lately. Easter Sunday was also a wonderful day. We started the day by going to church and the service was absolutely amazing (as always) and was the perfect start to the day. We then came home and I baked and cooked with my mom all day, which is always one of my favorite things to do. My mom is such a great cook and always teaches me so many useful tips and tricks while cooking. We made prime rib, corn, mashed potatoes, rolls, and asparagus. The food was all so good, I’m still full, just kidding! I also made a homemade cheesecake, which was a huge success! I used thin mints and graham crackers as the crust and used heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and cream cheese for the filling. I topped the cheesecake with cherries and it was a huge hit. Anyways, today I am sharing my Easter look with all of you and I am so excited! I bought this Lilly Pulitzer dress in January during the Lilly sale, but waited until now to finally rip the tags off, yay! I love the bright colors and this dress had the perfect Easter/spring pattern. I paired the dress with my favorite denim jacket (it’s on sale) and all of my favorite accessories. Spring Looks for Every Occasion

Happy Thursday and almost weekend!

I hope you are all having a great week and are looking forward to Easter Sunday. Easter is easily one of my favorite holidays and I am looking forward to spending the day with my family. Today I am sharing spring looks for every occasion. Whether you are going to a wedding, a weekend getaway, or just a lunch date with friends, at least one (maybe all) of these outfits will work for you. I have paired all three outfits with a different nude wedge and different sunglasses. All three wedges are my all time favorite wedges, especially for spring and summer. They are all not only cute, they are so comfy! Last week my flats were killing my feet so i threw on my Target wedges, how often does that happen?! Hurt feet usually don’t feel better in wedges, but that’s how comfy all of these are. You can shop all of the outfits underneath the last picture of the look  by simply clicking on the desired image where you will be redirected to purchase the item. I hope you enjoy these spring outfits!

What I Put in My Carry-On Suitcase

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend. I went to San Francisco over the weekend with 15 girlfriends and had the best time! We jam packed so much into the short amount of time we had in the city and I loved every minute of it. On Thursday I will be sharing all of the pictures and details of my trip so stay tuned for that. Today I have teamed up with ORGO Lite to share with all of you what I put in my carry-on suitcase and how having an ORGO Lite travel organizer makes traveling so much easier and convenient. The organizer slides out and can fit in a sink or on a counter top. It then slides back in to make the organizer more compact for suitcases and traveling purposes.

I always use my Steve Madden roller suitcase as my carry-on and it has the perfect amount of room. I found this suitcase on sale at Marshalls and it is my new favorite carry-on luggage! The suitcase has the cutest bag tag (as shown above) and so many different pockets/compartments for added storage.Shown above are some of my must have travel items. I always travel with an extra outfit in case my flight is either cancelled or delayed and I get stranded at an airport. I also always put more expensive items in my carry on such as my blow dryer, straightener, and jewelry in case my bag gets lost. I also always put more expensive items in my carry on because my check in luggage always gets thrown around and beat up so I try to avoid breaking anything expensive. I usually always wear slip on shoes to the airport because they are easy to take off and easy to put back on. I also hate wearing sandals while I fly because it grosses me out and my feet always end up freezing mid-flight and that’s never enjoyable!

I also never travel without my sunnies, my phone charger, and headphones. These are all must have travel essentials and I don’t enjoy traveling without them! I also highly recommend putting your phone charger in your carry-on luggage instead of your check in bag because again, if you get stranded at the airport, you won’t be there with a dead phone. Headphones are also a must have (I forgot them during my flight to Burbank two weeks ago and was so bored) in case you need to noise cancel out screaming babies or just jam the whole flight. I also always put my makeup and overnight necessities, including a toothbrush and toothpaste in my carry-on luggage. I always like to freshen up after a long flight and having all of my makeup and toiletries in one place makes it so much easier.

Above is a picture of my ORGO Lite travel organizer. They come in many different colors and seriously make traveling so much easier. I used to throw all of my makeup into a bag and get to my destination with broken eyeshadows and a bag full of unorganized chaos. This organizer keeps all of my products in place and prevents makeup from breaking, which is always a plus. There are different pocket sizes and designated spots for brushes to help you organize better. I was so surprised at how much fit in my ORGO Lite and I still have room for more!

Here are 5 quick and important travel tips I always live by:

  1. Make sure your phone is completely charged before takeoff.
  2. Always pack a toothbrush, a change of clothes and any other overnight necessities, just in case.
  3. Roll your clothing, don’t fold. Saves you so much room.
  4. Plan your outfits in advance, don’t just throw random clothing into your suitcase.
  5. Make a packing list in order to avoid forgetting last minute items.

I hope you all enjoyed what I pack in my carry-on and find these travel tips useful!

XOXO,

Jonica

5 Tips to Motivate Yourself to Workout

Happy Fitness Wednesday!

We are halfway through the week and I am only one day away from vacation, I will be telling you all where I am going in my blog post tomorrow. This week has been crazy busy since I am trying to fit in everything I need to get done before I leave. Today I will be sharing tips on how to motivate yourself to workout, which is something I really struggle with. I never have a problem once I get to the gym, talking myself into actually going is the hard part. I’m pretty sure we all struggle with this so I thought this would be a great post as one of my first fitness Wednesday posts. Also, I hope you all enjoyed my first fitness post last week. It was a personal post, which is something I have never really done before, but I thought it would be helpful to give you all a little background on my fitness journey. As I said last week, I fell off the fitness and healthy lifestyle track for awhile, but I’m back and more motivated than ever so I help I can motivate you too!

1. Set a non-negotiable time to go to the gym everyday:

We all live busy lives and have full schedules, which is why it is so important to plan. Planning a set time to go to the gym everyday helps with procrastination and eliminates stress from deciding when the perfect time to go is. Going to the gym at a set time everyday also trains your body and mind to know when it is time to workout, which will help you stay motivated. I am not a morning person and I have more free time at night so I have set a designated time to go to the gym after work and always go at that time. I also think it is helpful to sign up for a workout class because you are more likely to go if you know you have to be there at a specific time. I highly recommend Pure Barre, Yoga, Orangetheory, etc., all of these are great classes and will help you stay motivated.

2. Set goals, both big and small:

This is a huge tip and so important for everything we do in life. Whether you have gained weight or are training to run that marathon you’ve always wanted to run, goals are huge. I always set one big goal and also set 5-10 mini goals in order to stay on track. I don’t think it is helpful to set one big goal and just hope for the best. It is so easy to lose sight of what we are training for or what we hope to achieve, which is why setting mini goals along the way is always a good idea. I don’t think it’s practical to say “I’m going to lose 15 pounds and get a six pack by the end of this year.” I do think it is realistic to say “I’m going to lose 2 pounds this month, stick to a meal plan with no cheat meals, and do an ab workout everyday for 10 minutes.” Those are realistic mini goals and if they are accomplished, you might just lose 15 pounds and have visible abs in a year.

3. Make a killer workout playlist:

Music always motivates me and having  killer workout playlist always makes me work harder at the gym. I love walking into the gym to my favorite pump up music and getting right to business. Having the perfect workout playlist motivates you and keeps you going while you are there. Sometimes I tell myself to finish running until the song I am listening to is over or I make a playlist for a certain amount of time and tell myself I can’t stop working out until the playlist is over. I currently have Spotify and I love using it while I workout. Spotify has the best premade playlists specifically for working out. I use a pump up workout list and it keeps me pumped up the whole time I’m at the gym. Whether you make your own playlist or use Spotify, find the perfect playlist for you and get to work!

4. Buy a new workout outfit:

I’m not telling you to go spend $200 on a fancy, high dollar workout outfit. I’m telling you to go buy a workout outfit that you love to wear and makes you feel confident. TJ Maxx and Marshalls have great name brand workout clothes and I love all of their gym clothes! They have the cutest leggings, sports bras, tanks, and shoes. You definitely don’t need to break your bank account to buy a cute workout outfit. Like anything, we always feel more confident when we love what we are wearing and love how we look while wearing it. I know when I am not in the mood to workout, i throw on a bright pink sports bra, my favorite running leggings or shorts and automatically get more excited about working out.

5. Start a workout plan:

I think this is the most important tip, even though I saved it for last. I know I am much more likely to workout when I am sticking to a plan because everything I need to do at the gym is already mapped out for me before I even get there. It not only saves me time from deciding what weights I should lift and what muscles I should target, it also allows me to be better prepared for my workout. I recommend doing Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guides, Beachbody’s 21 Day Fix, or making your own workout plan filled with HIIT and body weight exercises. I love being able to follow a plan and know I am staying on track with my workouts and I think planning workouts allows all of us to hold ourselves accountable.

The Perfect Bell Sleeves for Spring

Happy Tuesday!!

Another countdown to the weekend has begun and another busy week is in full swing. I have been so busy lately with school, work and doing exciting things for the blog! I was on a conference call with a couple of affiliate managers for brands and I am so excited to share all of the big things happening with Sandy Toes & Salty Hair in the near future so stay tuned. On another note, the weather has been absolutely bizarre this past weekend and into this week. It will seriously be snowing or raining one day and then be sunny and warm the next day. It has been doing this for the past five days and I have been so confused on what to wear since the weather is changing by the hour. I decided to take advantage of one of the sunny days to shoot my new favorite top I got in the mail from Chicwish. I am all about bell sleeves and this top just nailed the bell sleeve detail. The sleeves have ruffles at the top with a bow under the ruffle to add more detail to the sleeves. This top is perfect for a spring, whether you are going to a BBQ or brunch. I love this top paired with white denim pants or shorts and my favorite Steve Madden wedges! Shop this look at the bottom of the post. Simply click on the desired image, you will then be redirected to a page where you can purchase the item.

This exact top is currently 15% off and comes in pink and the navy/white striped top I am wearing above.
